At the opening of Pippo Borrello’s retrospective exhibition there were authorities and a large audience.

The representation will close on 26 January 2016 at galleria La Pigna (which is part of the U.C.A.I. Catholic Union of the Italian Artists) at Maffei Marescotti Palace in Della Pigna 13, n Rome. In addition to oil paintings, are displaying drawings, graphics and screen prints.

Looking at the works of Borrello, Neapolitan of birth but Veronese for many years, there is a strange feeling. Everything is visibly concrete, so that seems to touch the subject of painting. For that sense of immensity and eternal harmony, it looks like it was a wise spirit painting the works.

The lines are sinuous and the colours sometimes very delicate, other times associated with a compelling and sunny nature, that it’s full of energy and movement. The sign is so powerful on the canvas and on the boards, which resonates of emotional dimensions, in a poetic articulation of existence.

The sea is often present. Poem of the sea with foam flowers, mysterious swirls and unstoppable tides, metaphor of life and beyond. The sea is not only represented, but it’s also full of colours even when it comes to different subjects. The colours are like long echoes that blend into a profound unity of flare and magical kidnappings. The brush strokes are dense, with clumps and filaments in relief.

The horizon embraces us. Both that it appears as divine liquid that pure fire. Crosshatches are serene and bright, they have diamond gleams, the milky sweetness of nacre, the intensity of ochre, the light of the stars, gold, silver, bronze. The work of Borrello knows showing the secret language of things.

Constant connotation in Borrello’s works is the formal balance. It is combined with a very personal style that defies any classification. Between fluidity and strength, you can feel the sun on your skin, the kiss of the silver moon. This painting surrounds us. And it's like a blanket of stars that makes the night more precious of our unknowing.
