he artistic imprint, if I may say, it receives from the sea, the Gulf of Naples, in front of which he was born.

It’s a sea of strong colors, rich of contrasts, harmonies and discords, surely involving for a delicate sensibility which his; a sea from which it is fatiguing to get further, as the painter himself had this to say, now far from Naples: «it is not enough to know and love the sea. Classical studies, first, the meeting and the comparison with the Neapolitan artistic environment of the fifties - Sixties and of the Twentieth Century, are the basis of his pictorial formation. At the academy of art in Naples Borrello knows Emilio Notte and Guido Biasi; he frequents the group 58. They are experimenters - and the young Borrello with them - careful to the international production of the first half of the century, but at the same time careful not to lose the inheritance of the tradition. He grieves to the search of Armando De Stefano, who in the late 1950s, moves away from the realistic vein to an expressionistic style attentive to the matter and tend to be abstract.
