The recovery of the line

One of the most interesting characters of the painting of Borrello consist in the recovery of the line as fundamental expressive mean.

This expressive tool, that has reached in the first years of our century an extraordinary exploitation through the culture of the art nouveau and it has also developed an important function in the searches of the expressionism, then it lost a lot of its importance during the alternate stories of the state-of-the-art and the figurative arts of the postwar period.

Certain personal experiences in which the line has received an unpublished interpretation in the last decades but the way according to which Borrello today takes back this tool don't miss almost forgotten it has a strong originality and it reveals, especially in some cases, very convincing. The line allows Borrello to be in a position of research intermediate between the figuration and abstraction.

The happiest achievements of his painting are those in which the sign maintains in full the evocative force of reality without, however, describe it, remaining a largely symbolic.

The emphasis of the line mates Borrello color interpretation that does not seek doughs or delicate hues but expresses itself with violence. Often the artist focuses in his paintings the boundary point between two surfaces and two different colored fields, transforming them into a clash of energy on a frontier become white-hot.

When this concentration of pictorial values is realized, the painting of Borrello expresses more intensity with its originality. Are paintings where the balance between representation and Figuration is expressed in a more creative ability to introduce the world of figuration which stems from scientific observation of reality.

To my opinion the merit of the search of Borrello is in a way to look at the nature to the light of a new sensibility that is produced some actual world dominated by the information and by the record of the immaterial one.
