Sails explained of gold and silver the galleons of Giuseppe Borrello, artist of the sea

The sea and the sail, from Amerigo Vespucci to windsurf. This is the theme that characterizes the exhibition of Pippo Borrello that it can be visited free, at the Municipal Gallery of the Aragonese Castle from 10.30 to 12.30 and from 17.30 to 20.30.

The master, was born in Naples, lives in Verona and he is tied up to our region from deep roots: his grandfather lived in Taranto and big part of his family lives here.

The idea to prepare an exposure of his works in the earth of two seas is born when Borrello knows, on the occasion of an exhibition in Naples, the admiral Maurizio Gimignani.

From this meeting the artist remains deeply fascinated from our city, one of the most important basic naval. Two in particular are the works that he has devoted to Taranto: Capricia, that represents the so call boat and Serenity. In his paintings predominas the green, color which he prefers to represent the sea.

Particular is the technique, used both on canvas and on table: an embossed support with a white quartz that confers elasticity to the canvas. The gold and silver sheets illuminate the work that, reflecting the light, they always disclose every time a different aspect of the work.

An ancient art of painting but, the teacher assures us, he still succeeds in involving young people that prefer however to try new experimentations using the support of the computer.

Pippo Borrello has declared to be extremely “flattered and honorable of the human heat and of the reception that Taranto has reserved me.”

And he remembers the meeting, casually happened, the intensification of relations with the artist and, finally today, the exposure of 23 works devoted to the sea and the boats of the military Marina.

The exhibition, was inaugurated, tonight at 18.30, will remain open until 26 October and has the patronage of the municipality of Taranto and Navy.
